ALTHOUGH WE DIDN’T KNOW IT…….UNTIL 2022
warren
Warren’s first exposure to woodworking was at the age of 16. His family business, a music store that specialized in music books, was in need of a new set of bookcases for the ever-expanding inventory.
The job was his to source the bookcases or build them. Luckily, another employee's father was a woodworker and was able to lend a hand. This simple plywood bookcase 30 years ago sparked a life-long love of building, wood and design. Today, Warren has amassed a fine collection of tools, clamps and lumber. More importantly, his love for design, building and finding creative solutions has never been greater.
Warren is finally ready to share this passion for creating and is the impetus for Hardwood Design House. “I hope you get as much out of our products as I did making them.”
If you have any questions or simply want to talk shop, wood or tools, drop Warren a line anytime and he would be pleased to get back to you and chat.
Jordan
Jordan's first exposure to woodworking was in Grade 8 with Mr. Passy. A wonderful teacher who helped him design and produce an Eddie Van Halen looking guitar clock made of Oak. It still hangs (and works) in his childhood room within his parents house!
From there and through the friendship with Warren, Jordan was able to see Warren's passion & desire to learn, evolve into working with different types of woods/tools on many different projects.
Jordan's work interests and daytime hours however, took him into the Marketing & Advertising field to which he has enjoyed the past ~20+ years of personal and professional growth.
Thank you for reading About Us and we guarantee to produce top quality wooden products for you that you will undoubtably enjoy for many years to come!
OuR story
Hardwood Design House was created in 1991 although we didn't know it at the time.
Brothers from different mothers who have been friends for over 30 years, we're now bringing individual & collective interests together.
The impetus for Hardwood Design House was a jute coffee sack that Warren picked up from a local cafe/roaster. After sitting with it for a few weeks, he decided to mount it and frame it for wall art. While using the red oak that he got from a horse farm (previously used as a fence), he realised that 100% of the materials we’re up-cycled.
What if we could build furniture, cutting boards and accessories from up-cycled materials? This question has now become our challenge. To build, creative, beautiful and functional products out of materials that would otherwise go to the landfill.
We’re very excited for you to browse our collection and can’t wait to get back to the shop and create something new, beautiful and useful for this world.
